Philosophy of Education

It is my belief that every child is entitled to an education and each child is capable of learning. All children, no matter their background, social status, or ability, should have equal access to a quality education.  A strong foundation in education will provide each child with the necessary tools for future academic success and foster a love of learning.

As an educator, I have an incredible responsibility to the students in my classroom. Not only am I responsible to provide each and every student with the tools they need for success but to encourage them to be active participants in their own learning. Creating a classroom atmosphere where every student feels safe, included, and valued, allows for a more positive learning environment. Classroom management is crucial to maintaining a safe and functional learning environment. A positive approach to classroom management with appropriate consequences helps students to stay on track.

As a teacher, I am responsible for getting to know each student well in order to determine how each one learns best. Determining the needs of each student ensures that I will know how to encourage and guide them in a way that is meaningful to them. Utilizing all of the tools for learning: hands-on, interactive, and with technology, will ensure that students with varied learning styles, e.g., auditory, visual, kinesthetic, will be reached. My goal is to keep each student engaged in their learning and make it fun but also to challenge each student.

From day one in my classroom we work on being independent. Independence fosters self-esteem and helps children to feel confident and able.  Providing lots of opportunity for students to meet and master their goals, they become confident and capable learners.

I believe that children are our future, teach them well and let them lead the way”  WH
