EXPERIENCE

SEI/Inclusion Teacher - Grade 4

Inclusion Teacher - Grade 2

Elementary Teacher  -  Grade 3 ELA

Kindergarten Teacher

My Kindergarten teaching position afforded me the opportunity to work with a very diverse group of (25+) students. Those challenged by disabilities, those with non-compliant behaviors implementing positive behavior support plans, English Language Learners using Sheltered English Instruction techniques to promote development of the English language, as well as students functioning on and above grade level. I developed lesson plans to teach ELA (Reading and Writing), Math, and Science using the Common Core and Massachusetts State Standards to guide my planning. As modeling is an essential element in kindergarten, I utilized the Gradual Release of Responsibility with my students and progress monitoring to inform further instruction for each student. In addition to formative assessment, I utilized DIBELS to assess early literacy skills as well as a district math assessing tool.  The curriculums used within the district to support planning and teaching: National Geographic-Reach for Reading, Scholastic-iRead, Six Traits for Writing and Zana Bloser, and Go Math.

To foster a relationship with student’s families, I sent home a monthly newsletter as well as reached out to families when students have made significant gains or have struggles.
